Oh my days! What a weekend we just had?
Over 600+ people in the house across our services and Christmas events.
To top it all, Tobi Olunjinmi preached a cracking, stirring, and inspirational message inviting us afresh to follow the example of Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and keep saying YES to Jesus.
Even when things aren’t playing out well.
Even when life is hard.
Even when all doors seem to be closing.
Keep saying YES.
Because we just don’t know…the answer might just be around the corner.
I’m reminded of Joshua saying YES to God to walk around the walls of the city of Jericho even though it made no sense.
Esther said YES to God to save her Jewish people from genocide even though it might have cost her life.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego said YES to God and were being thrown into a fiery furnace.
Paul said YES to God despite being constantly hounded by critics and assassins.
All of these men and women, like Mary, kept trusting. Kept believing. Kept hoping. Kept expecting. And their trust was rewarded – even in ways they could not imagine.
Some of us have the first YES to make – to say YES to Jesus to become our Lord and Saviour.
Many of us must choose the second YES today – committing to keep hold of Jesus, even when life is incredibly tough (to whom else would we go?)
All of us have a daily choice to make the third YES – the everyday decision to live for Jesus in every moment of our lives. Trusting Him to be at work, even if we don’t see the fruits of our efforts in our lifetime – but believing for a Kingdom impact and legacy. Wow!
In 1 Corinthians 2:9, Paul writes these words to encourage us to keep on, keeping on…
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”
What a promise, if we would just keep holding on? God will never give up on us. Let’s not give up on Him. Let’s keep saying YES.
