Born Again to Be Bored Again?

I love how when someone shares, God speaks to us all listening in so many different ways. Have you experienced that? When you feel the speaker is speaking directly to you, how could they possibly know that you needed to hear that thing in that moment?

The thing that Dave said that really spoke to me was –  Are we just BORN AGAIN then to be BORED AGAIN?
Let’s take ourselves back to when we were children, or if you have children you might have heard it more recently. Children like to moan that they are bored, don’t they. They can have all the toys, gadgets, craft, books, and attention and yet somehow, they are still bored. As adults this is quite frustrating and sometimes elicits out of us a –

WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?

We as a Church are called ZEO, which means PASSION, we are passionate about people discovering the immeasurable life and love of God.

And yet as Christians when we have come to know the saving power of Jesus for ourselves and have received forgiveness through His saving grace. We sometimes let our passion fizzle out a bit. We don’t mean for it to happen, in fact we really don’t want it to happen. But sometimes our passion, our on fire-ness for God gets duller within us.

I wonder if God looks at us, His children and asks, what more do they want? And yet we know that God is a God of compassion and grace, and He gives us more, through His Spirit.

I was a bit dull today, I was letting the everyday of life get in the way of my passion and I asked God for a passage and felt drawn to Psalm 103, which I really encourage you to go and read all of. This is verses 1-5

Praise the Lord, my soul;
    all my inmost being, praise his holy name.
Praise the Lord, my soul,
    and forget not all his benefits—
who forgives all your sins
    and heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life from the pit
    and crowns you with love and compassion,
who satisfies your desires with good things
    so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

This spurred me on today, and I hope it does you. If we are feeling a bit dull, a bit bored, lets press into God and ask Him to set us on fire again. That we would be a Church that is passionate to be discipled and to disciple.
