“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Ephesians 2:10
I’m, so pleased to introduce the first quarterly edition of the “You Can-Do” from Zeo Church. I believe everyone can do something, so look out for what You Can-Do towards the end of this edition. At Zeo we believe EVERYONE is known, loved, valued and needed and that means YOU. Nobody should care more about our community than we do!

Christians Against Poverty
Working closely with the Debt Advisers at CAP Head Office, we have seen four people go debt-free in recent weeks. No situation is straightforward so we are very grateful for God’s hand in these outcomes! Please pray for our clients, and volunteers.
The next CAP Life Skills course starts on 1st Feb at Zeo Church from 10 am to 12 noon, with lunch from 12 until 1pm. Running for 10 weeks this free course offers much practical advice on all things from budgeting to cooking, managing your energy bills better, examining your strengths, preparing a c.v. and job hunting. All this in a relaxed and friendly environment. Not sure if this is for you? Just sign up and give it a try!

Helping Hands
Launched in September 2022.
Volunteers get hands on with painting & decorating, gardening, building furniture, putting up curtains and all manner of DIY jobs for families in our community that just need a little help right now. We’ve done nine jobs since September and had loads of fun. Read what people have said:
“Thank you all so much for all the hard work and kindness you put into doing this for me and my little family”
“It’s a relief to have the garden so tidy now. Thank you, it makes such a difference.”
“I feel so blessed to have helped; we really enjoyed helping out😍”
Warm Welcome
In these days of soaring utility bills and food prices, we provide space for people to hang out and enjoy some company, food, and warmth. Since we started in December, we’ve provided 46 meals , supporting 10 adults and 4 children from 9 families. This is open to the Zeo family and wider community and we’ve had some really positive feedback.
“What a great place, great food, company, help and support…..The volunteers were really kind”

Family trips
Families benefit from doing things together but many just can’t afford it. We want to help provide great memories of having fun together; in the last quarter we provided tickets for 7 families (19 children) to go to the Panto and 5 families (16 children) to attend the Teddy Concert. Most of our referrals currently come from Hitchin Partnership.
Christmas Hampers
As part of the Hitchin Food Provision team, which includes local churches and agencies/NGOs, we provided food vouchers for 175 families including over 400 children.
Age-appropriate gifts were given for each child. Generous Zeo people bought 58 gifts this Christmas.
For more information speak with Phil Jackson or John Draper.
Zeo Community Fund
All our community activities are funded by the Zeo Community fund. In the last quarter we spent approximately £4,000 (15% supporting Zeo family, 34% Helping Hands and 51% on other community projects e.g. CAP and Teddy Concert). We can only continue to help our community because of your generosity. You can give to the community fund through the offering but why not set up a standing order: https://zeochurch.com/give/
