How would you describe God?
The Bible brims with breathtaking answers to the question – most famously, and often repeated, “The Lord is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.” (Psalm 145:8)
And that’s just for starters!
Do you need any of that today? Do you need mercy? Compassion? Patience? Unfailing love?
We all do, right? And God, who is fully revealed in Jesus, is the only person in the universe who is faithful, reliable and constant in all.
Each and every day, this Jesus issues us a three-word invitation…
“Come to me” Matthew 11:38.
Come to me – whoever you are; wherever you are; whatever you’ve done; however you’re feeling. Come to me, Jesus invites, and I will give you the rest and peace you’re longing for.
How will we respond to this invitation? Let’s respond personally by drawing close to Him each day in prayer, and let’s respond together by drawing close to Him when we gather at our Zeo Celebrations (and Huddles and Church at Home).
We’ve called this coming Sunday – “Back to Church” Sunday – because we sense Jesus is sending out a fresh invitation to come back to him, and to His family. This is not about bums on seats, this is about drawing close to the One who is our true source of life and peace (and being in this together).
Maybe you’re already regularly connecting with Jesus in our Zeo Gatherings. If so, perhaps Jesus is asking you to extend the invitation to others. In 2 Corinthians 5:20, the Apostle Paul reminds us to extend a four-word invitation…
“So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”
Maybe you’ve not gathered at Zeo for a long-time and this is the nudge from Heaven you’ve needed to reconnect with Jesus and His family.
Let’s pray for a fresh moment of coming to Jesus every day – and this Sunday, especially as we see what God has to say about being unshakeable in these shaking times.
