The light shines brighter when we’re together

You were created to shine! Seriously…

Jesus tells us in John 8:12 that He is the Light of the World.

But then in Matthew 5:14, Jesus reminds us that you – yes YOU – are the Light of the world – which makes sense because we’re created to know Christ, and become llike Him.

The Apostle Paul picks this theme up in Philippians 2:15 when he reminds followers of Christ to ‘shine like stars’ in a dark world.

And then 100s of years earlier, Daniel 12:3 encourages us that living brightly will draw people to God. We all know the world needs the light of God’s love and hope.

So how do we make sure our light doesn’t go out?

It’s easy for the pressures of life to discourage and disappoint us, dampening our spirits and causing the light to grow dim. That’s why gathering together is so important.

The writer to Hebrews tells us that we mustn’t neglect the regular habit of coming together because when we gather we can comfort and encourage each other, cheering each other on, and helping the light of God to stay bright in our lives.

If you’re anything like me you’ll take some time over the Christmas and New year period to reflect on your life, your priorities, and your diary.

With this in mind, I’m asking you to consider a big reset in 2023 to recommit to the habit of gathering – good for you, good for the light of God in your life, and really good for the world in which you inhabit. Is it time to re-prioritise gathering in order that your light can burn bolder, brighter and more beautiful in 2023? Let’s reset and re-commit to gathering:

And if you’re up for a faith stretch, and interested in being part of a small group of people exploring piloting a Zeo Community with Amy and myself in 2023 then find out more today.

We were created to shine – with the light of Jesus, for the good of the world. Let’s charge it up by commiting to hang out often in 2023. You’re not a bum on a seat, you’re an indispensible family member on a world-changing mission with Jesus.
