What do Skylarks have to do with being followers of Jesus?
Great question! And it’s worth grabbing 23 minutes to watch Pete and Nicki Sims, the leaders of Skylark International (our church network) to discover the powerful symbolism of being a skylark.
One of the powerful lessons we learn from Skylarks is that they awaken the dawn. They sing out that the light is coming, even in the midst of the darkness.
That’s a beautiful image. An image of what we are called to be as followers of Jesus.
In Psalm 30:5, the writer reminds us that, with God…”Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning.”
With so much fear and darkness around us, there is a desperate need to shine the light of peace and hope, and in this festive season we have a God-given (literally!) opportunity to invite people to experience the hope of Jesus.
We can all be Skylarks, through being carriers of God’s peace and hope to others, praying they will discover the wonder of the Christmas message – that God is with us.
With this in mind, let’s make this the most hope-bringing and peace-filled Christmas ever.
406 people have signed up for our Christmas events so far but there’s room for over 500 more! Yes, we could see 1,000 people join us across our events this December – praying they will encounter the peace and hope of Jesus.
Let’s not delay but commit to be hope-bringing and peace-filled Skylarks who invite people to come with us to the events we’re running at Zeo. Who could you invite and sign up, in the next few days – including yourself?
